Powder Coating

Powder coating is a great way to protect and enhance the appearance of your Patio furniture. It is the process in which a dry powder is applied to the surface of metal or aluminum furniture, creating a durable and long-lasting finish.

One of the main benefits of powder coating is its durability. This industrial form of coating creates a protective barrier around the metal or aluminum, helping to prevent rust, corrosion, and other forms of damage caused by exposure to the elements. This enables your furniture to last longer and maintain its beauty for many seasons to come.

Another benefit of powder coating is its resistance to fading, chipping, and peeling. Unlike traditional paint, powder coating does not have a liquid carrier, which means that it does not crack or peel over time. This ensures that your furniture will maintain its color and finish for many years.

1.Prep It – Before powder coating process begin, every single piece is carefully inspected and stripped from any non-metal parts. This is a step that should not be missed.

2. Blast It – Then pieces are sandblasted and stripped to the bare metal of the frame. Sandblasting is the best way to prep a metal surface in need of restoration.  It removes dirt, grime, rust, corrosion.  It also removes existing painted, or powder coated finishes.  All types of metal can be blasted such as alloys, aluminum, steel, iron, etc. The point of

blasting is to remove any mil-scalerust and rough up the surface prior to coating.

3. Powder It – Finally, when fully prepped and dry your metal project will be ready for powder coating.  The coating itself is done through an electrolysis process, whereby, the metal object is positively

charged in order for the powder to be attracted to it and bond well during the next stage. There are many colors and brands of powder to choose from depending on the needs of the customer and the end use of the project. There are outdoor-rated and interior only rated colors and powders. Some powders require clear coats which could add to an increase in costs.

4.Cure It – The powder coating process typically requires a temperature range of 250°F (for low cure) to 400°F to ensure proper bonding. Once the appropriate temperature is achieved, it takes between 15 to 30 minutes for metal pieces to reach the curing state. To ensure that the curing process is completed correctly, the oven used should displace heat evenly so that the pieces are heated uniformly throughout.

This process also offers a wide range of color and finish options. You can choose from a variety of colors, textures and finishes to match your decor, and to match your personal style. You can choose from a variety of glossy, matte, textured, and metallic finishes to create a unique look for your outdoor living space.

Powder coating finish is also an extremely eco-friendly option, as it produces little to no VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and it is a more efficient process than traditional liquid painting. This means that you can enjoy your furniture without worrying about the impact on the environment.

It is a great way to protect and enhance the appearance of your outdoor furniture. It creates a durable and long-lasting finish that will help prevent rust, corrosion, and other forms of damage. Your investments will maintain its beauty and will last longer, providing you with a comfortable living space for many seasons to come.
